Matt Morris
PartnerMatt Morris founded Hampton River Partners, LLC in 2018 with support from several Bay Area entrepreneurs and families. Previously, Matt focused on global equity investing at Pelorus Jack Capital, a San Francisco- based investment partnership, and Challen Asset Management, where Matt opened the firm’s Menlo Park office. Previous to Challen, Matt was an Investment Manager at Northgate Capital, a multi-billion dollar alternative asset management firm. At Northgate, Matt and the team developed theses around small market private equity investing in software businesses and ultimately deployed tens of millions into several of the top performing software private equity firms. Matt earned an MBA with a Finance emphasis from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and a BA from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Matt lives in Austin, TX with his wife and three children.
TRACK RECORD
Sourced and led Series A investment in Dura Software and has served as a Board Member since 2019. Matt acts as a Board Observer at 6Connex, a leading virtual event software business and also sits on the Board of Jungle Disk. Matt has invested over the last decade as an institutional investor in private and public markets at Northgate Capital ($5b+ AUM), Challen Asset Management (seeded by Tiger Cub, day one employee), Pelorus Jack Capital and Hampton River Partners (founder).
