Michael Girdley
PartnerMichael is the Chairman and co-founder of Dura Software. Michael is also a partner at the Geekdom Fund, a seed-stagetech venture capital fund that has invested in over 50 high-growth tech companies. Michael has also co-founded several tech-related companies and nonprofits: Codeup, Alamo Angels, and RealCo. Prior to diving into San Antonio’s tech sector, Michael was CEO of Alamo Fireworks, the largest retailer of consumer fireworks in Texas. Under his leadership, the family business transitioned from 3rd to 4th generation leadership.
TRACK RECORD
Michael began his career in engineering and marketing roles at RSA Security and BEA WebLogic where he was the lead product manager for a $300m business. He received a BS in Computer Science from Lafayette College. Michael conceived and co-founded Dura Software, raised $12mm in equity, acquired nine companies and brought all to profitability, ARR run rate north of $40m in roughly three years since inception. He also conceived and started Codeup, one of the few successful coding bootcamps in US operating in difficult market at over 20% EBITDA margins. Lastly, Michael also cofounded Geekdom Fund an early-stage Venture Capital firm; raised over $30mm in capital deployed at over 20% IRR in funds I and II.
